When you make plans, God laughs

So many changes this weekend! Andy's belt test went well and he achieved either his first degree brown belt or his third degree brown belt. I can never keep it straight. He has three stripes on his belt, but I don't know if that means we count up or down. Anyway, what I DO know is that the next belt test, which will be sometime next year, will be for his black belt.

Saturday morning we were up and out early - sax lessons, picking up Andy's sax lesson, meeting his sax teacher's 29 year old son whom no one knew about for many, many years (a delightful man with three boys of his own); then groceries to beat the pre-snow storm rush, a few other errands and church. Since the snow hadn't started, we went to Cracker Barrel for dinner (I had the big veggie plate); then home for christmas movies, wrapping and cleaning. My folks were supposed to come in on Saturday afternoon, but their flight was cancelled Saturday morning, and after a little hesitation, they finally got re-booked on a flight that was to come in on Sunday night. My brother and SIL rebooked their flights on Friday as soon as they heard about the storm, and instead of getting in at midnight on Saturday, they got in at 5, and are staying with my brother. So that meant, we had an additional day to clean, wrap, bake, etc. before the company arrived.

I had radiation on Sunday morning, but the hospital called and rescheduled from 7:15 a.m. to 10:30 a.m. Sadly however, the DPW decided not to plow until some time after that, so driving was difficult, and it took me a half hour to negotiate my driveway (which is not that long) after I got home. Andy and spouse came out and dug tire trenches and I finally barreled into the garage after many, many tries.

Then, we just stayed put. I did a pile of laundry, christmas cards, wrapping and baked two cakes - one for my folks and one for the office potluck. (Eggnog streusel cake.)

My parents' friends who live 10 minutes from the airport offered to pick them up and let them stay over since the plan wasn't due in until nearly 10 p.m. last night. I took them up on the offer, and they should be at my house when I get home this afternoon.

Still waiting for a few stray deliveries...but mostly things are wrapped, and I've only lost a few small gifts that will likely turn up in January.

My brother has his appointment in Boston today to meet with another cancer specialist. We're waiting to hear what's happening with that, and we may meet the flammy for dinner at some point today. Otherwise, I don't know.

We're praying for all good things.

Andy is getting really excited!

And for now, that's all I got.
