New life (form)
A hairy lobster has been discovered. Oh there are just so many things to do with that.

Ahem. Met my two friends for dinner last night. I had not seen them in at least two years. One of them is now a grandmother and mother-in-law, with another grandbaby on the way. When we last spoke, her children were not speaking with her, lured by teenage angst and their father to choose new cars, no curfews and the chance to drop out of school rather than a relationship with their mother. But they've come back and finished high school. Her daughter is living with her now while the daughter's husband is serving in Ir@q. Her son joined the military and is serving somewhere in Sp@in. She is mourning the lost few years, but so glad to have them back and (somewhat) safe. My other friend is nursing her marriage back to health. The stresses of her husband's job have nearly broken them. But she is fighting for it.

So again I am given another opportunity to keep my life in perspective. Please give me the strength to use it properly rather than continuing the complaint. Though complaining is so much more entertaining isn't it? I so prefer to read train-wreck journals than happy ones and maybe have fallen into a trap with my own.

Spouse went to a specialist yesterday and is scheduled for some tests he'd rather not have. He is assured that these are merely for the sake of thoroughness, not because the doctor suspects anything specifically dangerous. I am always amazed at the way spouse handles doctor's appointments. He did not check to see if he will be sedated or need assistance(i.e. driving, drop off, etc.) for these procedures; he did not check to see if this physician is board certified. Wouldn't you want to know that?

I am thinking of some sort of retail therapy that might snap me out of this funk, but the frugal part of my brain scolds me.

The funk seems to be spreading. My mother is in one, my sister is in one, my neighbor/friend is in one, d-land seems to be in one. Will crocus help? Will the appearance of pansies at the home improvement stores make a difference? That should be happening any minute.

Tonight is our Blue and Gold banquet. Cub scouts moving up in their ranks. And of course with spectacular table decorations.
