NOT eating the chicken.
People are boxing up their belongings at work and moving on. It is extremely sad. For nearly 30 people, it is their last day at this job.

One of the men who reports to me and is leaving now brought me a lovely bag of goodies - candles, pot holders for my new stove, and a couple of other thoughtful things. It was so sweet. I however, brought no gifts. I feel like a heel.

Last night we had our cub scout holiday party. We made foam decorations and ate our weight in sugar cookies. The boys loved their gifts - little caribiner clips with a small flashlight and a compass.

Spouse enjoyed his holiday party last night. I cleaned up the guest room but the rest of the house is a nightmare. I'll be cleaning until the wee hours tomorrow morning.

At home though, I have a homemade chicken soup in the crock pot. Made the stock over the weekend and cleared out alot of space in the freezer using up all those chicken bones and veggie ends.

Today's rant: On the survivor finale on Sunday, I meant to comment earlier on how sacreligious I found the whole "eating the chicken" thing. I realize that those playing the game had not eaten huge meals in four weeks, but to ask about eating the chicken used in a sacrifice by people native to the region THEY WERE ONLY VISITING made my flesh crawl. I used to have alot of respect for Stephenie, but I lost it then.

I think that will be my new phrase for the disrespect shown by many people, for putting their own needs ahead of others "eating the chicken" - like the over-used "jump the shark."

Humbug.

In other news...Andy's teacher conference went well, but she doesn't love him. Last year, his teacher LOVED him. This year she recognizes that he is incredibly bright, articulate and creative, but she offered nothing to us to help continue to cultivate that.

My mother says she can't get into the commercialism of Christmas so she hasn't done any shopping.

We have a new teakettle that looks very much like a gigantic robin's egg.

That's all I got for now.
