Let it shine
Whew! Busy! Came to work this morning and many people had called in sick, especially those who will be out of work on December 14. Saturday we got our new stove delivered. It took us most of Friday night and Saturday to get the old stove to move. The previous homeowner apparently built cabinets around it, so the moving involved the prying loose of moulding (molding?) little decorative wood strips, and ungunging the accumulated grease of at least two decades underneath the stove. But spouse hacked away, and did a nice job of getting the stove out. Andy and I went to Mass on Saturday afternoon, and the stove was delivered while we were there, so we came home to a new appliance. I splurged for Mexican food for dinner, then we came home and collapsed, watched a Star Wars movie and fell asleep on the couch. Sunday we reassembled the kitchen, and spouse connected the new Video/DVD Recorder. Pretty cool. We have joined the 21st century finally.
Yesterday I made a mini-Thanksgiving dinner - a little stuffed breast of turkey (it came out a bit dry); delicata squash, broccoli and stove top stuffing. I heart stuffing. It was tasty, but I'm done with turkey for a while.
Yesterday afternoon, our town had its annual Christmas tree lighting and visit with Santa on our little town common. We went early, got in line and saved places for our friends. It was nice. I wonder how many more years Andy will want to do this?
Already, there are few toys on his wish list, though he manages to make new toys out of the ones he has. This weekend, we turned a playmobil airport into a factory, complete with a dormitory for the workers.
Tonight's dinner is a little bit of compost - leftover frozen pork roast and veggies with black beans, cumin, bay leaf, garlic, onion and tomatoes. Hope it turns out well.
This week: Scrapbooking, cub scouts, clean-up.
Hope spouse gets to put the holiday lights up this week!
