The weekend and the survey
I am in such a wierd mood. (Yah, what else is new.) But this was a great weekend - Friday, we ran the errands we thought we'd do on Saturday, but we knew the weather would be dismal, so we did them Friday night, had a great dinner, returned some duplicate holiday gifts, came home and snuggled under the covers with Andy.
Saturday was as dismal as we'd predicted. Took Andy for his dentist/check-up and heard the dreaded word: "Orthodentist." Didn't expect to hear that for a few years. Last year, Andy's cousin knocked out one of Andy's baby incisors, so the new teeth are crowding together and the new incisor can't come down. Hmmm.
Saturday after the dentist, we just hunkered down, did wash, took naps, read books, made a pizza and watched junky TV. It was fabulous. Andy had a great time too. Sunday was D&O with the inlaws. That's all I'm going to say. Sunday night, Andy threw up (I think he ate something that made him gag.) And then I was afraid he was getting sick, though he was fine. He even cleaned his room a bit and we're getting rid of more stuff!!! Then I paid the bills, finished the thank you notes, sent some New Year cards to people who sent us Christmas cards while we were away; helped Andy with homework; got dinners ready for a few days this week, etc. But when I went to bed I felt queasy, so I convinced myself first, that we were all getting some stomach virus; then I convinced myself (at 1:30 a.m. that maybe we had carbon monoxide poisoning even though we have windows open in almost every room. I kept waking up about every hour all night. Had wierd dreams even though I didn't eat any supper. I just don't know. This morning I found out an old friend had died last night - I worked with him for a few years. He was older and diagnosed with lymphoma before the holidays. He went to bed last night, and by the time his wife came to bed he was gone.
Roger was a genuinely kind man, full of humor and insight - he loved his family, loved to travel and loved to tell a story.
