Weekly outline
Did I say how happy I was to work at home on Friday? I got a TON of work done. I also got five loads of laundry done. I don't know why we have so much wash, except we tend to wear washable things only once (a holdover from my days of living in Florida where you sweat like a pig even in December.) Anyway, we brought up some more Christmas decorations Friday night, but didn't get them all up. Spouse put up our outside spiral trees Friday afternoon. Saturday he had to work, so Andy and I went out to breakfast with the neighbors next door, then dropped them off and he and I went to the enormous hardware store that is a national chain and bought some lights, a heater fan and a few more little presents; then it was off to the grocery store, the drug store, the dry cleaners and home-again, home-again jiggidy jig to meet spouse who brought home soup. After that, we put away the groceries, went to church, and hit the grocery store on the other side of town for some specials they had; picked up a Hess Truck for a Christmas gift, and then picked up rotisserie chicken for dinner - HAH! A whole day and I didn't have to cook. I paid some bills, tried to clear off the dining room table, and watched some junky teevee before heading off to bed. I have a vague recollection of part of a Harry Potter movie. Sunday morning we were expecting winter weather, so I planned it that we wouldn't have to go out if we didn't want to, and we didn't (except to take Andy to his friend's house to play for a few hours.) Andy and I made chicken meatballs and spaghetti meatballs. The former was for a big pot of escarole soup I made for dinner tonight; the latter was for last night's supper and I froze a big bowl of them for when we have my brother and parents staying with us after Christmas. I also roasted some squash and some brussels sprouts for dinners later this week. I may have written before that our family circulates "Greedy lists" to each other so we have some idea of what to get each other for gifts. I have to say I am having a hard time getting a list together. I don't want anything material. I just want the space to put away the stuff I already have; and the time to play with what I consider my "toys." We just have too much stuff. I have to make a list today of other things I need to do before Christmas. It will be a long list. This week: faculty meeting, video taping, hand holding, ego assuaging, and cub scouts tonight and Wednesday night. This weekend: Grown-ups night Friday night; Cub Scout Pancake Breakfast Saturday morning; and the start of two weeks of cat sitting for the neighbors. Also: holiday cards, holiday baking, house decorating, present wrapping, box shipping, closet cleaning, tree buying and note writing. And for now, that's all I got.
