Back to the land of the living????
I am back at work and feeling a bit better, though I feel like I may be carrying a small bowling ball where my bladder should be. I called the doctor because a) it is the weekend and they don't have weekend hours and b) we're getting a wappin' big snow storm today and tomorrow, and I don't want to be stuck at home without PAIN KILLERS! They said to give it another 24 hours.
Yesterday I wanted to make a nice healthy meal - tuna sesame steaks with udon noodles and veggies. I chopped the mango, tomato, cilantro, ginger, garlic, scallion, carrot, and pepper. I made a great sauce of lime juice, fish sauce and a little sugar. I went to cook the freakin' tuna and it was bad. I didn't look at it or smell it when I defrosted it (in the fridge) but when I took it out of the pouch, even I could smell it, and I haven't been able to smell in about two weeks. EEEEEW. Spouse went and got take out Chinese. I'm thiking I'll just make an Asian salsa for some chicken, but I can't eat meat today, so that will have to wait until tomorrow.
I haven't written about work for two reasons: One, I don't want to get dooced; and two - It has been incredibly stressful, so I've been working on compartmentalizing it. First, one of my direct reports asked to transfer to another department. That's fine, it is a good move for her, but the job she was doing has tons of aadministrative stuff and that has fallen to me to take care of. Second, I have a new person reporting to me - a production specialist and he was away for a week so I had to do his job; and finally, my graphic designer- who is due to go out on maternity leave at the end of this month found out she may be delivering a special-needs baby and we've all been really upset about it. It sort of came out of nowhere. So at any given time, there are fifty things to do that aren't really my REAL JOB. I'm handling it, but there is a snag in replacing the open positions even though I've written job descriptions and handled all the necessary paperwork. There is a snag. So that's my story.
This weekend we have a grown-up night dinner at our neighbors' and Sunday we're going to visit my little-old-lady friend - a volunteer with whom I used to work when I was working in hospitals. She is in her 80s and has a boyfriend now. Can't wait to hear about it.
Good night moon.
